Oh no! Not go back? I must admit though, I am glad to find this site, but I couldn't bare to think of restarting my planning journal. Its 3 pages long now!
Oh and I've been diligently working on my wedding website. It will be sooo much better than my old one. I totally need to scan in more pictures so I can post them.

Hey Everyone,
What an amazing week, we recieved our first wedding information package on tuesday morning (can you believe it, deliverd by courier  ) & DF is rapped in the idea of us getting married in the best wedding destination spot in australia. The ceremony alone will cost us $650 but honestly, it's money well worth spending.
How is everyone going with planning their weddings?
Are you finding some people commenting on you making wedding plans far too early?
Take Care,
Naomi.

Deanna ~ Do you mean for my planning journal or my wedding website? For my planning journal I've been using the other board, but I've just started putting together my wedding website here. It is going to be way better than the old one.
I'm kinda bummed right now. I was suppose to go wedding dress shopping with my friend whom I haven't seen in over a year and a half! She called this morning and cancelled because she is not feeling well. Unforunately, things like this always happen with her when we try to get together. Bummer.

Thanks Deanna! I'm hoping we will be able to get together at some point. This seems to be a trend though whenever her and I try to meet up. One of us gets sick.
OK, so I totally need to vent to the other 2007 brides on here. I just got an email from my friend in Pennsylvania. I almost died when I read what she wrote:
How are the wedding plans going. It sucks that is is 2 years a way. I am sure you have a lot of planning already done. Too bad.. you should have made the wedding next July.
How crappy is that? Maybe its just the mood I'm in, but what she wrote is totally rubbing me the wrong way right now! GRRRRR!

I wrote her back and gave her all the reasons why we won't be moving the wedding up. She wrote back this morning and sounded like she understood better. She was very excited when we got engaged so I think she's anixous for the wedding to be near!

Christopher and I are heading to park to take some pictures. I guess they aren't "engagement" pictures since we're married, but they are some nice pictures and we dont have a whole lot LOL. so I'll post them when i get back.

Im sorry your friend wrote that, I would have been hot under the collar as well! I know a cpl of my friends when I told them of me engagement to Kev they weren't exactly thrilled! But only beucase of the rocky road I have in the past, I guess there way of watching our for me!
As far as the dress shopping that is to bad! I'n so sorry, I know that is the day U so look forward too! It will come though and will be the perfect day for it when it does!

Sabrina: Sorry to hear about dress shopping being cancelled and the weird comment from the friend...glad it all turned out well in the end. BTW, not to add fuel to the fire but I would have been upset too but I think sometimes words can be interpreted differently depending on whose reading at the time.
Deanna: Congrats again Ms. Moderator!!!! Yay!
Naomi: Great start! I guess you started our QOD (question of the day...i think that's what it means..lol) for us.
Jenn: Welcome!
QOD 1: How is everyone going with planning their weddings?
We have our location set but need to give the downpayment and sign the contract. We already blocked off rooms for the hotel where we're having the wedding. We took e-pictures (engagement), are working on finalzing our Save the Dates (STDs), purchasing/making knic knacs (sp?) here and there (see my beautiful $3.00 pink tiara for my veil in my avatar picture), and hoping to have my dress by the end of September. We told Byron's (FH) mom yesterday and still need to tell my mom and both of our fathers of our final plans. The hard part will be asking the parents to keep their mouths shut as not to spoil it for our A-list guests when they receive our STDs. We want to let our bridal party know by the new year in a cute way. Oh, I forgot, we did our first registry and that's only b/c Byron was in the store w/me and wanted to use the scanner gun...lol. We know that items will be discontinued, etc. so I'm in charge of keeping the list updated. We don't plan on letting people know about the registry until next year anyway. That's pretty much all I've done so far.
QOD 2: Are you finding some people commenting on you making wedding plans far too early?
About 2-3 weeks ago, I totally flipped out when people were commenting on my making my plans too early. I kept hearing..."you have enough time" and it bothered me b/c with my limited funds and careful need to save every penny...I don't have enough time. I can't just wake up tommorrow and say I can give my vendor $3000 so I need to plan 2 years in advance. I realize now the people are just giving advice the best way they know how and I didn't need to flip..lol. In the end, I'm doing what's best for me to get what I want and that's all that really matters.

Thanks Ladies! Like I said I was probably just in a bad mood when I got the email from my friend. As for hanging out with my other friend, Sarah, it would have been fun to go dress shopping even though I've already bought my dress, just because I don't often get to go out and do "girly" things. I also thought it would be fun to hang out with another bride!
As for the QOD: How are you coming along with your wedding planning?
We've come a long way. We really only have our wedding venue, but I've picked out a photographer and a DJ we just haven't put down deposits yet. I need to talk with my parents about that. Unfortunately, I think the DJ is going to end up costing $1,200 for 6 hours (ceremony and reception). I was really only hoping to pay $650 but I don't think I am going to find a quality DJ in Northern California for that little. The irony is that the DJ costs as much as the photographer!
I've bought a few things and started putting together ceremony decorations. I have also started work on our STD's. I just need to find a CD label making kit so I can start designing out "East Meets West" STD CD's!
Hope you ladies had a great Monday. I had my first day at the new job and it went as well as can be expected.

Hey guys...just checking in. :) Byron's mom is here for the week and we're going to show her the hotel we've selected. We were able to increase the rooms we blocked from 20 to 30 and maintain the discount rates. We still haven't made the deposit and it has been bothering me a bit...we also haven't started saving officially and that too has been bothering me. I'm going to wait until after Byron's exam (he's taking the exam to get his low-voltage license on the 13th) before I start bothering him about that. I guess I'm just anxious...I have a fear that we're going to send out invites and have to cancel the wedding..lol. I know if push comes to shove...his father will help out but I rather that we do it on our own.

Wow I'm only posting again b/c I just realized that I am now a MEMBER!!!!!!! :D and with that here's are new QOD!
QOD: In your research and analyzing the costs of the vendors...what have you found to be outrageous for the type of service? i.e., wedding cakes costing $300 but if you go to the same baker and ask for 3 cakes, decorated the same that you will put on a stand by yourself...they charge you about $150.
To answer my own QOD, I have been amazed to see the price of undergarments. Items that if it didn't have the word "bridal" or "wedding" in front of it would not cost as much. I can't believe that a strapless longline bra should cost $50-$70...other than the extra material, it's no big difference than a regular one..lol

Hmm, I haven't been surprised by too much during the research process besides the fact that the DJ and the photographer are going to end up costing the same. I guess I already knew everything was going to be expensive especially if you mention the word "wedding".

Hey! Nice to see a couple of familiar faces around here!!
We haven't made any "plans" yet (still waiting on that ring  ) but we have been talking about the wedding a lot more (I love how weddings bring out those discussions). We really liked my friends reception site and may end up using them because they had awesome food and reasonable prices and we loved the people and the set up! We also liked the church, but I want to look around a little more on that one. There were a couple of weddings in the gardens around the reception venue while we were there and he commented on the dresses (what he liked/didn't like). I am still pretty confident that I know the one I will be getting! I will have to find a picture of it and post it soon!
My pageant starts on Thursday! I am so nervous but excited too!

Good luck with your pagent! I'm sure you will do great. Don't you love how weddings put men in that frame of mind? Matt and I shared some of those experiences before we got enaged.

Hey there...I've been here lurking..lol. My net is shut off at home so I can only post at work. Updates with me so far are: 1) contacted hotel director to get the date in the books and work out details; 2) purchase bra w/garter straps (ebay); 3) completed cardbox; and 4) ordered more petals. I had a talk with a friend about including my mom more in my planning. She's been a bit negative lately and I'm not happy with certain choices that she's making. Part of me wishes I had her support but the other part does not want her to take over the day. So I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. Maybe I should give her time to cool off...we'll see. Still no dress yet....still deciding..

Hey girl! Nice to see you back. Sorry to hear about your mom. Mine hasn't done much either. Matt and I agree that she's going to be a lazy momzilla. Although she did ask where she can purchase a wedding planner. She told me she'll start planning more in January when she feels more recovered from her surgery.
I'm so jealous that you've made more wedding purchases! Matt and I are on a new budget. We both went a little crazy spending this summer and our credit card bills are skyhigh. We're no longer eating or buying things we dont' need. That means all my wedding purchases will have to be put on hold until my credit card debt is GONE. Matt needs to layoff the video games - like no more for a long time. Its gonna be tough for both of us.

I know what it's like to be on a budget...I was on restriction for most of August b/c of over spending...but since I'm getting great deals...99 cents here for an item...2 dollars there...I am allowed to buy small things. Byron and I definitely need to start saving more since our date has been officially reserved with the hotel and they will be sending us our contract soon. I don't want a situation where we can't pay for this...HOWEVER, my contingency plan is that if we can't pay for the day...still get married but make it tone down...or pot luck or something...I doubt that will happen b/c I think if anything Byron's dad will save us financially...lol I must say this, I am jealous that you have your dress already...:p

I am so jealous of you ladies buying things for the wedding! I am determined to wait until we are officially engaged. We do have a set of crystal flutes that we will probably use for the wedding, but we won those at our end of the year bowling league party (aren't we the coolest :p )! I am hoping to be able to start buying things soon, but at this point that is all up to Bruce.
I am leaving for the pageant today! I am very excited and nervous! I will be staying at a hotel tonight and then I have registration and orientation at 9:30am  . I am going to try and check in at night, but I don't know if I will have internet access or time. I will definitly be back to check in by Monday. I am at the pageant Thursday, Friday and Saturday and if I win I will be there part of Sunday as well. My press release was in the paper yesterday! That was pretty exciting, Bruce had a couple of relatives call him about it and my grandma had all kinds of friends calling her! I stopped at the gas station this morning to pick up some extra papers and the counter guy said he thought that was me and wished me luck. :D It is pretty fun!
Hope all is well for you guys!

Hi Ladies!
Good luck, Kim! You'll do great. What an awesome experience.
Halfpin: I'm still really excited that I have my dress! The only reason I got it so soon was because it was exactly what I wanted and it only cost $282.50. If it was anymore than that I would have waited or hit up my parents for money.
Jenn: Hi! Sorry to hear that you have a lazy momzilla too! Althought my parents are already saving up for our wedding since they will be paying for the bulk of it. FH's parents are paying for the rehearsal dinner and the alcohol at the wedding. Other than that my mom hasn't been helpful in anyway. I took her to go wedding dress shopping and she was no help. She just kept saying she was overwhelmed by all the white dresses!

How has everyone been since UW went down. It's good to be back with my fellow 2007 brides.
Wedding planning had pretty much stopped for the time being. We have all the major stuff taken care of.
When my loan money for this semester comes in we're going to buy our rings.
Kim~hope that the pagent went well.
Carcycle~I know how you feel with the budget. Everything we do revolves around a budget. Luckly we're managing to pull the wedding off for very little (in the world of weddings).

Oh ya! When the dress came it was like "I'm actually getting married!"
The designer from Ebay is suppose to send me samples of the colors she can make my veil. The manufacturer describes my dress as being white, but in the lighting of my apartment it comes out as more of an ivory. So I wasn't sure if I should go with white, ivory or diamond white. But like I said I'm still waiting for the samples.
Oh, and I'm currently storing it in one of those Space Bags that you vacumn all the air out of. Probably not what I am suppose to do but its going to have to work for right now since I don't have a garment bag to hang it up in. Thats what my MOH did for her wedding. She just hung it in her closet in the garment bag it came in. Of course she got it about a year before her wedding - not 2!

I don't know this for a fact, but I think that storing it on a hanger for 2 years might distort the dress. Something about it hanging and it changing shapes...I think the space bag is a better idea b/c it's vacumm sealed. What I read that most ppl do is wrap it between 2 white sheets and store it under the bed. As a matter of fact, I probably wouldn't even bother with the garment bag b/c it'll be the same thing as hanging it up.

Hey girls...
Oh, I'm so excited to back together with my 2007 brides (and to get the chance to meet some new ones). My name's Aramelle, and my FH is James. We're getting married June 23, 2007.
I'm gonna try to jump right in here and get caught up:
Kim: I hope the fact that you haven't posted yet today means that you're tied up with press conferences as the new Miss Michigan! :D
Carclye: Yay for booking your venue! That was such an awesome moment for James and I...the first rush of "wow, this is really happening! I feel you on the budget thing. We are paying for everything ourselves, and are doing our best to keep it low. However, I have found one very positive *IMO* thing about having to watch a budget. In order to keep things reasonable, we are going the DIY route for a large majority of things (stationary, decorations, etc). It's going to be a lot of work, but it's also going to put "us" into every aspect of the wedding. Everywhere one looks will be something we put all of our heart into planning, designing, and making it happen. I think there's something really amazing to be said about that. :D
Sabrina: First off, thanks for helping me find this place. I've been searching for a new home where I feel like I "fit," and from looking around a bit I think just may be it. :) Would you mind sharing the name of the seller that you're getting your veil from? Is she charging you to send the samples? If so, how much? Also, I agree with Carcyle that you're storage of the dress is probably best. It is true that it's not good for them to hang that long...with how heavy they are, they can easily pull and cause the bodice to get stretched out. The vaccum bag will surely cause some major wrinkles, but you would have to have it pressed anyway, right? And I'm sure it's really best to have it in something that is completely air tight. I wouldn't have ever thought of those space saver bags, but I'm sure that's probably what I'll end up using when the time comes now. *lol*
I know that I missed some things, but I couldn't remember enough to catch up from the beginning. Have a great day, ladies. I'm sure I'll be back a little later...

Aramelle! Welcome. I'm glad you decided to join us!
Here is the information on the woman who is doing my veil. Her Ebay member profile is bridal-elegance, her real name is Tiffany. I won my shimmer veil for like $35.50 (includes shipping), which is about $70.00 cheaper than I'd seen it elsewhere online! She's sending me the samples free of of charge. They are just color samples so I can figure out which one goes best with my dress. She also gave me the option of which edging I wanted. It hasn't come yet so I can't post pictures but I definitely will when it comes!
I'm definitely keeping my dress in the space bag for now! I took it out last night to try it on with a pair of flat, gold ballet shoes that I've had since my junior year of high school. They go perfectly so I'm going to use those as my wedding shoes and my something old! By the time we get married the shoes will be 11 years old, but they are as good as new since I hardly ever get the chance to wear them.
Kim! We need updates on the pageant!

I've been a busy bee lately...here's my newest project. I'll post pictures when I'm done with at least one of the vases. The following is copied directly from my journal...I'm too lazy to retype..lol
I caught a great sale at Michaels and purchased 16 (only need 15 but one is for trial and error) cylinder vases to be used for the ceremony and reception.
Here are the vases:
http://www.weddingannouncer.com/gallery/files/1/9/7/2vase.jpg
I am thinking about tinting these in my wine color and possibly etching my wedding date and our names on the outside. They will be filled with water and rose petals. On the top will be a floating candle. These will line the aisle along with rose petals that will border the aisle. Once the ceremony is over, they will be moved into the reception on the tables to now become centerpieces. Since I know my guests will attempt to take any centerpieces home, I have decided to make them rather than use the ones provided by the hotel. This will also cut back on my flower budget and I may not even have to use fresh flowers. ;)

Halfpin~ Looks and sounds like a great idea! Whenever we get around to deciding on a centerpiece we will definitely give them away. What do you do with them otherwise?
Not much else going on here. I got the samples for my veil to compare it against my dress. Its definitely ivory which is what I thought even though the manufacturer said it was white. Whatever. I can't wait to get my veil and to post pics. I might not be in them though because FH won't even see my veil before the wedding!

Well some catering sites have centerpieces that guests can rent for the occassion. If the guests take them home...then you have to fork up some $$ that you were trying to save in the first place by renting. lol

I hope that you're all doing well. I'm super tired...been working 11-hour days for the past couple weeks, and it's starting to catch up with me. :(
I'm pretty happy though, because I've managed to get my planning journal back online. It still has a ways to go before I have everything in there from before, but it feels good to at least have it built. I opted to use an MSN group...much easier (IMO) to keep it organized, and easier to share with my family.
Anyway, I just wanted to pop in real quick and catch up with you all.
Carcyle I really like your centerpiece idea. Giving them away afterwards is a great idea. I think that's probably what we'll end up doing with the frames we'll use to make our centerpieces. How do you tint glass??? Sounds very interesting...please do share! :D

My veil arrived today!
I was so excited to see the package outside my door tonight. Its beautiful too! I love it! I haven't tried it on with my dress yet - I was too tired tonight - but I plan on doing that this weekend.
Alright, CIS Las Vegas will be on soon so I've go to go.
Any other wedding news to share?

Hey ladies. Sorry I have been MIA. Things are a little crazy for me right now. I did not win the pageant, but I had a great time! I have been contacted to possibly do some local modeling and have a test shoot coming up on Oct 22 (I will be getting a CD of all of the pictures from the shoot so I will post a link to them so that those who want to see them can). My grandfather who lives in TN has prostate cancer (he has been battling it for about 7 years now) that has spread into his hips, ribs and spine. I am dealing with it okay, but it is hard after having just lost Bruce's grandfather to cancer. I am also pretty busy with school and work because of having to catch up after being gone.
Sounds like a lot of you ladies have gotten some planning done and made some good purchases! Hope to be there with you soon (still waiting on him to actually ask the important question *sigh*).

Great dress, Nic! Are you going to get it in that color too?
I have great non-wedding related news! My MOH found out the sex of her baby tonight and I got the call from my other BM right after work. We did a phone tree because of the whole 3 hour time difference thing. Anyways, she is having... a GIRL!
I was so excited that I was jumping up and down. I always pictured her having a girl. Also, Matt and I have been talking about babies a lot lately and he keeps telling me that we are only having boys (not by choice). He teases me that he can picture us finding out the sex of our first baby only to have me be disappointed that its a boy. He's probably right.
Engouh babbling. I just wanted to share the good news!

Since I haven't been around for awhile (school sucks!!) I just wanted to stop by and see how everyone is doing.
Since we have all of our major wedding stuff out of the way we haven't been doing much planning. We did pick out a new invitation yesterday and we're going to buy our rings the next thursday we have together but other than that my life is pretty much revolved around school. This is busy season at my work so I have even less time to have a life and since me and Brian want to go away on monday and it's a no request off day I have to agree to work like anything they want me to for the rest of the month so I can have monday off.

Hey girls! Sabrina, I just read your journal and I must say that I'm going to have to steal that tiara. It's georgous!!! It's more the idea of what I wanted...*sigh* hopefully the seller has more than one...I won't place a bid until I definitely know you have it this way I won't feel bad...lol I like the one I have now but it's pink and I could have sworen that it was pink mixed in w/red so that I have red in there...this is all of byron's fault since he wanted the wine/deep red color in the wedding.
Sabby12s
10-07-2005, 02:04 PM
Hey Carcyle! I broke down and put a bid on the tiara so you could get one too. I was going to wait for my next paycheck, but I have enough money now so I figured I should still get it while I can. If you do a search on eBay for "red tiara" it will pop up and I'm pretty sure the seller lists more than one. I can't wait to get it because I know it will match my jewlery perfectly.

Hey ladies! :D
I guess I haven't posted in here in a while...I've been really busy with RL crap the past couple of weeks. Hopefully, *crossing fingers* things will start to slow down here pretty soon.
Welcome to the new girls...we love to have more 2007 brides join us! :)
Deanna ~ Congrats on the new job. What will you be doing?
We've had a little bit of progress on the wedding planning. FMIL was here for a visit last weekend. She and I spent the day together on Saturday. We had a great time getting to know each other better, and doing some fun wedding stuff. We hit Michaels, and I picked up all of the pillar candles that we'll need for decorating and also grabbed the tapers for the unity candle. Now, I just need to load up on a TON of votives somewhere, and I'll have all of the candles bought. :) I picked out a pair of candlestick holders and matching pillar holder to use for the unity candle, and FMIL bought it for us.
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a252/Aramelle/Decoration%20Ideas/UnityCandleHolders.jpg
*Please excuse all the clutter on my scrapbooking table*
We also made a stop off at David's Bridal. I wanted to check out the dress that I've been drooling over online for a few months now! LOL I swore up and down that I was only looking...that I wasn't going to try anything on. Of course, that only lasted until one of the consultants asked me if I'd like her to get a fitting room for me! I only tried on the one dress...I'm going to save the major dress shopping excursion for when my MOH is out to visit next Spring. The dress was beautiful, though, and I'm really glad that we took the time to stop off there.
Well, time to go grab some dinner. Hope you all have a great week!

Aramelle~ That is great! It sounds like you had a wonderful time. I really like your unity candle holder. Did you get it at Michaels? I am still shopping for ours. Fh doesn't like any of the ones I've picked out. :(
I have some non-wedding related news! I got a baby shower invite for my MOH the other day. It is going to be on Saturday, December 3 and I think I am going to go! How crazy is that? Mind you, I live on the West Coast and she lives on the East Coast so there is 3,000 miles seperating us. I checked out ticket prices and I can take the red eye out on Thursday night and return Monday afternoon for only $259.00! Matt was excited for me even though that means missing our 3 year anniversary on the 5th. My parents are so excited that they have offered to pay for my plane ticket! My mom is just so happy that I'll be there close to her birthday on Dec. 14 and I haven't been home for Christmas the past 3 years so this will be close at least.
I guess some things were just meant to be! Now I just need to get the time off from work tomorrow... cross your fingers for me!

Sabrina ~ Yes, the holders came from Michaels. I got them from the regular candle aisle, not the wedding aisle. I plan to go back in the next couple of weeks to see if they have another pillar holder that will go with the set. I need two for our memory candles, and I'd really prefer if they all go together.
I'm crossing my fingers for you that you're able to get the time off of work to go back home. ;) James and I are heading back to MN for the week between Christmas and New Year's, and I'm SO stoked for it!!! :D I can't wait to see all of my family...to see how my niece and nephew have grown...to MEET my other niece! So many things are missed out on when you're so far away. UGH...now I'm getting myself sad! :( Sorry to have rambled... :o
Well, I've got another LONG day ahead of me tomorrow, so I'm off to start my nightly relaxation routine. Have a great Tuesday, everyone! :D

10-26-2005, 09:04 PM
*knocks on wood* I haven't had many problems as of yet Danielle. I think that because we're looking so far in advance it won't be that much of a problem. I have had a problem with prom though. Some of the reception halls were already booked (April 2005) for 2007!! I couldn't believe it.
The one problem with Mother's Day will probably come with my guests. I would love to have a little brunch type thing at someone's house the day after the wedding for close family and friends and have it kind of be a thank you to our moms.
Have you run into any problems with Mom's Day?? I'll cross my fingers and toes that you don't!

10-26-2005, 09:08 PM
Just today when I went into our florist that we want to use has been in my family for years and would never dream of having anyone do them but her said that could possible be a problem for her. Then I was thinking if anyone else is going to have a problem with it being on mothers day
Are you planning a prom?
jenzcrazy8
10-26-2005, 09:16 PM
No...I planned prom when I was in HS but being so long ago, I totally forgot that freshman usually plan their junior prom 2 years in advance which would make it this year.
I don't see how a year and a half in advance would be a problem for a florist. That's very strange to me. I'd think that since you're giving her enough time it would be fine...not like last minute on Mother's Day weekend:rolleyes: Oh well...everything will happen for a reason!
dms1981
10-26-2005, 10:02 PM

Hey ladies...good to see some posting actually happening in here. :p
Sabrina ~ That's awesome that you are going to be able to make the trip east for your friend's shower. Just don't go putting her into false labor from the shock. ;)
Deanna ~ Glad that you're liking the job so far.
Carcyle and Rebecca ~ Good to see the two of you! :D I know you're both busy, but we like to stay caught up on the current goings on when you have time.
Things are moving along slowly but surely for us. I've had some major issues come up the past couple of weeks with some things back home, so the wedding planning got shoved to the back of my mind for a bit. I'm still struggling with figuring out how to "deal" with it all from so far away. James has been great in doing whatever he can to try and help me through it. Unfortunately, it kind of comes down to one of those "you can't understand, so you can't help" situations. :( It's times like this that I hate being so far away. On top of feeling so helpless, I also don't feel like I have much of a support system anymore. :o Anyway, sorry to get down on you all...
On the up side, we've started talking a little more about our honeymoon over the last couple of days.

This is b/c the holidays are coming up and I know I'm going to have to take care of some things on that end. I'm cooking thanksgiving dinner at my house but i'm going to my mom's house for christmas. if i happen to see some items that are affordable between now and then, i may pick them up but i'm not going to be searching like before.
yes, aramelle i can't wait to say next year so that way ppl can stop asking me why am i planning so early. it's starting to get on my nerves...one lady said...well i thought you were rushing to plan or something...i was like eh, no...i'm making life easier for myself later on. i'm sorry to hear about some rough stuff going on with you lately...i pray that things will get better soon
same to everyone else out there dealing with some tough stuff...
speaking of tough stuff..i am thinking about starting a small business part-time to provide supplemental income...it could really help out with the wedding and with stuff in general...if i get it started i will ask the admin here if i can provide links to it...it'll be beneficial for brides and women so maybe you guys can get something you like...i'll keep you posted on that one...
let's see one more...
for halloween byron and i went to a party the saturday before. he dressed as the "man from mars" and i was his woman...I have pics and when i can find them (i'm on another comp and i think i saved it to the job's network) i will post...

Now that Halloween (busy time at work) is over I should be able to come by more often.
Got some good news from Brian today. By the end of the summer of 2007 he'll have a bachlors in bio education and a masters in physics eduation. This is so exciting b/c for the longest time he didn't think he'd be done with school by the wedding and then we wanted to go for his masters and then get a degree in physics (talking like 4 more years of school)but now he'll be done with everything the summer we get married. I'm so happy for my honey.
I'm looking forward to saying "next year" too.
What does everyone have planned for the holidays?
For thanksgiving Brian's mom & step-dad are coming to my parents house and the 7 of us (them, us, my parents & brother) are having dinner together.

For Thanksgiving, FH and I will be cooking a turkey and all the fixin's here in our small Seattle apartment. This has been our tradition for the past 3 years. Its totally comfy and cozy. We talk with family and friends we haven't heard form in awhile and watch a movie on DVD. I used to hate Thanksgiving, but now I love it. Its so relaxing - even if I do have to baste the turkey ever 15 minutes.

I'm cooking for thanksgiving and Byron's Mom, dad (I think), brother (i think) and a married couple we're friendly with will be there. My mom, stepdad and brother was invited but my mom is "acting up" to put it nicely so she may not be there.

Just wanted to check in ladies and see how everyone is doing.
Looks like we've all been busy lately. I haven't done much wedding planning. Gathering some stuff up to share with my mom about vendors for when I go home next month. Other than that I'm at the point where I am tired of waiting and I'd just rather elope! FH feels the same way but he's still worried that our families would be upset. Oh well.

11-12-2005, 11:52 PM
I totally agree with you on that one Sabrina!! I would just rather elope right now and be married instead of playing the waiting game, especially after the wonderful day I've had (note: HEAVY sarcasm used here) I'll explain:
I went to the salon today for my appointment. I walked in and when Jessie, my consultant(best ever) saw me she immediately started jumping up and down saying she was so excited I was here b/c I'm her favorite. So I explain to her that I called yesterday, asked about Nova and the girl told me that it had been sold b/c she couldn't find it.
Jessie looked at me as if she'd seen a ghost and was like, "It's gone?!" So she starts looking through all the dresses pulling out a few that looked like it and each time she'd say, "This looks like it...is it theone?" and I'd tell her no. And then she pulled one out, asked me, and I yelled, "THAT'S IT!!" I couldn't believe the girl had told me that it wasn't there when it really was. Jessie explained that it didn't have the actual name on it so she probably didn't realize it was the one I was looking for.
So then I had her grab that dress and a couple others to try on and proceeded to try every one of them on until I had 3 left and Nova was next to try on. I tried on Nova and that was it! This is the dress I want...the dress I'm supposed to have. So my friend Jhenn took some more pics of me in it and then we got ready to leave. I gave Jessie my new contact info and told her to call me first if anyone showed the slightest bit of interest in the dress so I could think about whether I could afford it then or not.
So I left, went to my boss' daughter's baby shower, visited my sister, and then came home. I ran in and told my friend Angela that they DID have my dress and then Tim said what I DID NOT want to hear..."There's a message for you from the dress place saying there's a problem with your dress"
I, of course, thought he was kidding, but after I listened to the message and it did say that! Jessie called to let me know that they had a problem with Nova and that she wants me to call her TUESDAY AT 3 so she can talk to me about it.
I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL TUESDAY AT 3 TO TALK TO HER!! I don't think I can wait that long...I'm gonna go crazy!!
So then I call Jhenn...explain what happened to her and she said that if they had the dress held for someone they probably wouldn't have let me try it on so someone must have come in after me and found it or someone who was there and saw me in it wanted it (oh the things I could call them:mad: )
So I get into my pouty, pissed off, angry, upset, depressed-type mood after that and Tim gets on my case b/c "you shouldn't have even gone and gotten your hopes up when we really don't know when we're getting married, blah blah blah...."
I don't know if it's just a girl thing, but to me if a dress is discontinued and I ABSOLUTELY love it...no matter how far away the wedding is, I'd like to get it ASAP so that someone else doesn't get it and so I can cross it off my list and so that I can have peace of mind knowing that I have the dress I love.
Anyways...I'm done with my vent now. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep your fingers, toes, whatever you can crossed until I talk to them that I can get my dress. It's really not in our budget right now with the apartment and all so hopefully I can come up with a way to afford this.
TIA!!!

Well, I've since gotten over my hissy fit;) I'm actually starting to like the strapless dress moreso than Nova. I can always have removable straps added in case I don't feel comfortable with the strapless-ness:) I don't think it'll be that big of a problem since the dress is 2 piece the skirt won't be tugging the top down which is DEFINITELY a plus.
I'm still waiting until tomorrow to hear what Jessie has to say about Nova but really I won't be that disappointed if she says someone else wants it. I mean...Arabella Marie is almost $500 cheaper anyways:D Can't go wrong with that!
BTW - Thanks to everyone who's voted so far! I really appreciate the HONEST input. I really need to hear honesty to make a good decision (unlike my family who would tell me anything to keep me happy)

Well Jenn I am keeping my fingers cross for you but at least you found another one if this dress doesn't work out. Maybe it was meant for you to have the other dress, my mom always says everything happens for a reason so maybe the first dress is working out because you were meant to find this one.

Sabrina~I know exactally what you mean. I'm so tired of waiting!!! It's Brian that won't agree to het married sooner though. While he wants to he doesn't think we can afford it until we're out of school. He agreed to sit down with me over winter break and see if we can find a way to move it up. We're thinking of maybe (if we can work it out) having a JOP next summer and then still have the one we've been planning in 2007.

11-15-2005, 01:12 PM
That is EXACTLY what Tim and I have been thinking about Rebecca! We just want to get married already and if it weren't for money issues we would be marrying next year! Good luck with moving it up! We'll all have to switch over to the 2006 thread pretty soon:p
Wish me luck girls! I'm calling Jessie at the salon today to see what she has to say about the Nova dress. At this point I'm not that worried if someone has decided to take Nova because right now I'm loving Arabella Marie more:D
TIA!!

I was SO anxious about calling Jessie so right at 3:00 yesterday I gave her a call only to find out SHE WASN'T IN! They said she had sometime of a meeting at school so BLAH! I guess I'll try again today or tomorrow. I'm actually hoping that someone DID decide to take Nova b/c it'll make my decision that much easier;):p Yeah, I'm a brat lol.
So here's hoping she's actually in today or tomorrow! I'll be sure to let you girls know what happens.

So I go to take my son to school this morning, it's 28 degrees and lo and behold i have a FLAT FRICKEN TIRE with a wire sticking out the side! (for those that don't know, sidewalls can't be patched up, I have to buy a new fricken tire!) I'm so ticked!!! Just when I thought i was gonna have to walk him to school (4 blocks away, not that big of deal but i have a sick 2 year old and it's freeeeeeeezing) help came from an unexpected place. my bitchy neighbor that likes to talk trash about me offered to take him to school. Nice of her right? except she's probably gonna tell some story of how i was coked up and passed out on the kitchen floor or some other extreme story. Maybe I'm over reacting, but last i heard she was telling ppl i lock my son out of of the house and leave him home alone. I can't stand her.

So just an update...
I just got off the phone with Jessie and she said that they actually sold the dress on Saturday so it HAD to have been someone in the store who saw that I didn't buy it or something. That's kinda crappy if you ask me but it all worked out in the end. So that's one more thing on and off my mind. I just have to make sure that nobody else takes this dress...I would be SO upset!
Anyways that's it...I'll BBS!

Jen~ Thats too bad about the dress! At least you have the other one to concentrate on now.
I have some good news - we FINALLY have an even wedding party! It never really bothered me before except I wasn't sure what I was going to do for the recessional since I had 2 bm's and 1 gm. Matt got in contact with one of his old HS buddies last night asked him if he wants to be in our wedding - he said yes!! He's very excited for us. So now we have 1 MOH, 1 best man, 2 BM's and 2 GM's. Maybe some day I'll get around to asking my friend if her daughter can be our FG.
I have more good news too! We found a 2 bedroom apartment we love and if our applications are accepted we will be moving next month. I can't wait! We've really outgrown this place and we need the extra space. If we get it we will have 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (a luxury I've never enjoyed before). We'll also be able to add another cat to our collection. Woo hoo!

Congratulations on the apartment Sabrina!!! I know how exciting it is to find a place just for you two. Tim and I have only been in our's for a little over a month, but it is SOO nice.
You'll definitely have to post pics!! I wish our apartment allowed us to have animals but Tim said that maybe we can sneak a cat or two in. Our neighbors in the building across from us have a dog that barks ALL the time so I don't know why they haven't gotten in trouble
Good luck packing everything and moving!! Hopefully everything goes smoothly!!

Woo hoo!
Matt and I just came back from putting a deposit down on the new apartment!! We had to fill out an application (credit check) so we'll find out in 4-5 days if the apartment is ours.
I'll definitely post pictures as soon as I take some. Since we looked at a couple of different places we had a hard time deciding which one we wanted but when we saw them again today we knew right away that we wanted the one with the vaulted ceilings and the bigger bathrooms. I can't believe we'll have 2 bathrooms! I haven't had that luxury since I was in college and sharing them with 5 other girls!!!

We were originally going with May 12 but 1.) It's mother's day weekend and flower prices would be horrendous and 2.) We needed a little extra time to save up some money since we just moved into an apartment. We'll definitely have a better chance of no rain in July also so since the wedding's outside we need that point!!
Ooh!! good luck with the application Sabrina! We knew there'd be no problem with us getting the apartment, but it was just the "waiting game". It was nerve-wrecking!!!

Oh yeah...the unpacking DEFINITELY sucks! It's not really even the unpacking. It's more the fact of trying to find a place for everything. Half of the stuff I had in my room at home I can't put here...it amazes me that it fit in my one room, but won't fit in this huge apartment!
Good luck unpacking...be sure to keep us updated!

It felt like old times again. It too my MOH 3 HOURS to open all her presents at the baby shower! Wow! She loved everything that we got her though.
