Engagement Ring

Hi Girls!

I need your opinions! My DF proposed to me on Christmas Day and the engagement ring was too small. I didn't have any rings around so he had no way of knowing my size. The proposal was a total surprise for me! We returned the ring and decided that I would choose my ring. I was so excited about it. I was heavily pregnant at the time and traisping around the shops was hard and tiring! So my mind was not "right" at the time. It was not long afterwards when I decided that I didn't like my engagement ring very much :( I keep looking at it and feeling unsure about the ring. All I got from my family and friends was "that is nice!" :rolleyes: It has no "Wow!" factor!

I have told my DF how I felt, he understood and suggested that we could get it altered a bit from the jewellers where we would have my wedding ring made to match my engagement ring. I am wondering if I could change the engagement ring altogether but I don't know if it is a good idea?

What do you think? I just want to be real happy with my rings!!

Thanks for replying! I am seriously considering changing it for a different ring, rather than altering it as the diamonds are rather small!

wow your lucky that you get to change your ring. but will the store do it for you. i know my store i can change it only if i spend double what my ring is worth..um hello no way.

i love my ring, but saw others as well, constantly looking is killing me, but couldnt change mine because he got it for me. and could never imagine trading it in so im just going to get something for one of our anniversaries.

but since you picked yours, there is no guilt there.

my band/setting is non-returnable. my center ring can be exchanged if we spend 2x as much. most places will offer some type of deal to echange the diamonds, but if you don't like the ring itself you may need to have it altered.

Thanks all for your advice! :) We went to craftsman jewellers yesterday and we were so glad we went! The jeweller was extremely helpful - and honest too! We were mortified to learn that my ring is an illusion one (a trilogy ring) - with really tiny diamonds of only 0.04 carat each with inclusions to make them look bigger! No wonder, I didn't feel right about the ring! :rolleyes: The guy said he cannot do the alterations i.e. changing for bigger diamonds. So he is going to make me an engagement ring with a shaped diamond wedding ring to match!! I chose our band width which felt so good on my finger! Yay! :D I will have my new engagement ring by Christmas! My FH is getting a perfect ring as well! It is so great that we are getting rings that are made for us! Sooo excited!! :D

My honey would have flipped if I wanted to change mine ( he designed it himself), it's a good thing I love it! :D
