I received an item at my Brideal shower which was off of my Target registry. It was a candle holder set. I loved it but when I got home and actually opened the box I was saddened to find part of the holder broken.

The person who gave it to me doesn't have the receipt... is there any way I can still return or exchange it???? Has anyone ever had to do this through their Target registry?

I don't have a Target registery (because alas we do not have a Target here :) ) but my understanding is that if anything is bought off of any registery it can be returned with out the receipt because it was listed. They may just do an exchange or store credit but it's better than nothing .... good luck :)

Yeah, just print a copy of your registry at the store and it has to show that it awas purchased off there. Give customer service your registry andt he item. Explain to them there's no receipt and it was bought off your registry. You'll only get store credi.

But beware: yes, you can return it with your registry list, BUT you can only return 1 item a year without a receipt. And you will need a photo ID

You can go to your Target registry and get a return receipt. I bought something off of our registry and it turned out to be the wrong item. All I did was go onto our registry and get a return receipt and I had no problems.

You should be fine just get your registry number and say that it was broken an want a new one they should honor it.

Oh man. That's more strict than going to Canada.

I didn't need a photo ID and I returned several things without receipts. I just printed my registry list and they gave me store credit. It was their fault because I got many duplicates.

You are only allowed to return 1 item per year w/o a receipt, BUT that doesn't apply if you have a registry and the item is listed on there. BUT the item w/o the reciept (& not on a registry) will only give you the lowest amount that the item was ever sold for AND you MUST use the refund of the money towards a product in the same department THAT day.

okay, maybe it was just our target that required the Photo ID

We didn't have any problems. I mean as long as it was bought off our registry and we can show it, we were fine. I mean we returned TWO $90 microwaves off our registry and neither had a receipt.

I really had no issues. The only thing I didn't like was getting duplicates.

Yeah!! We got THREE microwaves. WTH was I going to do with THREE microwaves. But two were bought off our registry and one was bought elsewhere. And the two microwaves were bought the same day.

I've returned a lot of things to target w/o a receipt..and they always just put the money back on one of my credit cards, I've never had to take store credit... maybe the workers at my Target just don't get a s--- though ;)

But I didn't want it to go back to their credit card, I want the credit.

Oh they don't even ask me what card I used, they just ask for whatever card I want to put the credit onto. The first few times I was just like, ok....

Thank you ladies... you were a real help! I don't mind getting the store credit...because I like the item I received...it was just broken. I think i'll go try later on today when FH get's back from work.

The item was purchased by my little sister. It is cute of her because she and I do not get along.. but she is only 17 and could only afford something "cheapo" (in her own words)... but honestly...I REALLY wanted that item. It is going to go great once we re-do the room. I wanted to design it over.

I just called the nearby Target and they told me that as long as it is under $20.00 they could exchange it with my I.D. anything over $20...they can't.

I was going to say just go buy another one and that will give you a receipt. Then return the broken one with the receipt for the new one.

Ooh, no...I found out that if you buy with a debit/credit card, they can look up your purchase, as long as you have the card with you. Cash or check, you can't do that with.
