ok so i've been engaged since september 2006 adn we're getting married in august 2008... i'm new to weddingannouncer - well not entirely new, but i'm not on here so much... anyway...
well, we started off the night by going out to one of our favorite watering holes, lefty o'doul's in the city by the bay - where tony bennett says cable cars go halfway to the stars!
after a night of just enjoying each other's company and drinking, eating and making new friends, we headed back to the hotel room
lemme back up - nolan took a job in southern CA in August, so this was our first weekend together since his move...
back at the hotel, we lounged, cuddled and just sat and talked about how much we love each other and started making plans for me to follow him to socal. nothing really monumental - just relished in the moment that we were spending time together.
after an hour or so, we head off to dreamland...
then i feel nolan tapping my back and calling my name, so im thinkin he wants "round 2" i try hard to stay "asleep"... he jsut keeps tapping my shoulder calling my name attempting to wake me up, so then i'm kinda thinking "whoa - i mustve been snoring so loud - ooops!"
after what seemed like 30 minutes (probably actually only 10 minutes) i roll over and whine "WHAAAAAAAAAT??? - im trying to sleep - and please turn the TV off - it's so loud i cant sleep with SportsCenter blaring!"
he says to me "Babygirl - let's get married. I love you so much - and i dont want to be without you - marry me"
uh yeah right - i just rolled my eyes and said "Are you kidding -it's alsmot 3 in the monring - go back to sleeeeeep!" i rolled over again so my back was facing him
he says it again "No im serious - let's get married - say yes - say yes you'll marry me"
im starting to get kinda annoyed because i dont know if he's serious - i mean we hadnt really talked about getting married, we discussed moving in together but the "M" word?? i dont rememeber ever having a convo about that!
i turn back over facing him and say "Dud, seriously go back to sleep - we're both gonna be super hungover if we both stay up - got to bed!!!" i resume my old position of having my back to him...
this time, he rolls me over so im facing him and in a strong verrry alpha-male way says to me: "Look, I love you and i just seriously asked you to marry me - i dont care that it's 3 in the morning, i dont care that i dont have a ring - all i have is my heart so dont turn your back on me and go back to sleep. So im asking you one more time - will you stay my best friend, stay my lover, stay my babygirl - i'm asking you - will you marry me"
so there you have it - we got engaged at the Hilton at 3something in the morning while SportsCenter was booming from the TV, while we both had dragon breath!
