I was just wondering when is it appropriate to do a renewal ceremony? Obviously I don't want to one anytime soon, but a friend of mine was asking, then she got me to thinking...and I don't know when? lol
It would be good to know so I can start planning my renewal ceremony really early and have it absolutely perfect and the way that I want it without having to settle.

I'm planning on it, but it'll prolly be for our 5 year anniversary and it's going to AWAY from here. :D And only those that I like will be invited. :D

Most people do it after 10+ years, but since it's your ceremony you can do it whenever your little heart desires.

Of course everyone knows we did it for our 1 yr anniversary. However I would say maybe your 5 yr or 10 yr anniversary.

I would like to have a renewal ceremony at 5 years. I told James that I want to do it at the place where we were orignally going to get married at, it was at a park under a gazebo. That way he can get the outdoor wedding he wanted :)

I think 5 years is appropriate.
My friends parents did their 25 year renewal in Las Vegas on top of the Sahara Hotel & Casino in 2005. It was beautiful!:)

I would say 5ish? If Josh & I ever get to Las Vegas next year we might go into one of those drive thru's and just renew for fun LOL.

We might do a vow renewal for our 25th wedding anniversary. I'm all wedding'd out! I had 2 weddings and 2 receptions!

Stupid Question...Are there any major differences between the wedding and renewal? I mean do you still do a reception and stuff? Is it just lke a 2nd wedding?

I think it depends on what the couple wants. Sometimes it's a very private and intimate affair just with the couple themselves, but sometimes it's a big event that includes a reception. Sometimes people that have had a simple "justice of the peace" wedding or small wedding decide to have a bigger renewal. Ppl that had a large wedding would possibly like a small intimate renewal.

That makes sense, thanks Ewa. I would like to do ours at the same outdoor location and then have a huge indoor reception with dancing and the whole 9 yards. We did the whole thing outside so we missed out on some of that stuff.
