When looking for a job what websites do you use??

I use:

indeed.com
careerbuilder.com
yahoohotjobs.com

Are there any other ones that I'm missing?

I'm trying to find Josh a new job.

Monster.com! That's where I found my job I have now :)

That's about it. Check your local newspapers, as they may be linked with local job places. Like I know the Chicago area has a local job site called chicagojobs.com

workopolis.com - unless that's for Canada only

BIG CAUTION!!!

Read the names of the companies well b/c once you "apply" at one staffing agency, you'll get every one in town calling you. :D

They're like volchurs. ;)

Some of them are scam companies too... If they sound too good to be true then they probably are

I honestly cannot stand the job agencies out there. I would say your best bet is to look on your local newspaper and craigslist. That's where I find decent jobs.:)

Oh yah, I forgot about monster.com

I've looked in our local paper and the scammers have found their way there too!

I didn't know craigslist has jobs! I'm gonna check it out.

Thanks Ladies!!

Another word of advice, if you don't know the companyies name really well, do a google search for it and that'll tell you everything b/c chances are they have a website. :D That's how I know al the companies I apply to are legit.

I can tell you that depending on your line of work, Monster and Careerbuilder are really just resume pots.

Being in HR, I am responsible at many of my jobs for posting our job openings on monster and careerbuilder. Why companies post on those sites, is to meet the state and federal requirements for EEO-1 standards and the like. It's really a lot of times with no intent to hire. Yes, they need to fill the position, but they usually will not sort through the resumes on these sites to find the candidate (at least a lot of times). They turn to other sources to find the candidates.

What happens on those sites, is your resume falls into a big pot with everyone else's resume. I will post a job on monster or CB- and 30 minutes later there will already be 40 resumes that have been submitted for it. And honestly, a lot of companies don't have the time to sit and sort through the resumes to find qualified candidates.

Therefore, they turn to Staffing Agencies. Staffing agencies really are a good idea. They will do the pre-screening of the candidate for the employer, so they know they are spending time interviewing someone that is actually qualified, vs. someone who just dumped their resume in the pot with the others.

Monster and CB and such are not BAD sites...I am just saying don't rely on them for your sole source to find a job. The HR reps at jobs don't look at the resumes too often. At least in my experience :)

I hate staffing agencies. I swear I've been to so many of them, they are a pain in my @ss. A few of them told me, "oh you need to go to all these training classes and they cost X dollars." Even though I don't have to pay for their services, they wanted me to go to classes. I don't think so. I have my BA, use that. I have work experience, use that. Then ALL of them have told me, "You're not going to get far with just a BA in English, your best bet is to go back to school." I walked out on one b/c she got me so p/o.

Interesting. Must just depend on the agency. I have worked with about 6 of them, and all of them have been wonderful. Just like everything else, it must just depend on the one.

Well I've gone to about 4 or 5 of them. In all differ areas. 2 of them were downtown and another one was who my last employer used to recruit their engineers. I went to them b/c they were "good", but after filling out their pile of paperwork, sitting with this woman for 2 hours, I got no where and she never sent me on a job interview.

OfficeTeam is not a bad staffing agency.. neither is Express Personnel. Allison if you have either of those in you area, they may be worth checking out. IMO those are 2 good places for landing a job somewhere. At OfficeTeam they offer free testing to get certified in Microsoft Office (this was YEARS ago though, don't know if they still do it) and I was almost placed in a job, but it turned out that I didn't take it for whatever reason.. can't remember now.

However with Express Personnel, I got a job right away with one of their clients, worked there for about a month then they fired me. :o (Not Express, but the company I worked for. ) That is a long story in itself, but it wasn't my fault or Express Personnel's fault, basically my job was eliminated when the President's son started working for the company.

I have used CBS and I cannot stand them! Yes that is how I got my current job but they were horrible! They didn't pay me on time which resulted in overdraft fees from my bank because I thought the funds were avaliable.

I've done testing through addecco and I'm registered through office team however don't they usually primarily deal with FT jobs? I want a PT job second shift.

Josh needs something mechanical, warehouse, or constructionisty...
