Which songs are on your "do not play list?"

I know I am definitely not letting anyone play the "YMCA" (cause I work there) or any COUNTRY because we hate it. No offense. Its just not us.

What about everyone else?

we want to do all the fun songs- probably not the YMCA though. I want all of the nsync, britney spears type of music off- i have some weird little cousins that WILL request them!

same here, also including macarena, slides of any type, chicken dances, and absolutely no "celebration". I cant stand that stuff at weddings. My poor dj, lol.

I don't like 'Celebration,' my FH and his family do.

My grandfather loves polkas so I thought we could have a few. FH hates polkas and says that if there is more than one played he will leave the reception.

Good times, good times :p

Well I'm pretty sure there will be no way to cut out the Chicken Dance at our Wedding. I kinda like it...get's things moving. Any Head Banging music is totally out. We were thinking of going all 80's music, so we might still expand on that. My mom wants to make sure we have 90's music cause she wants BSB's songs. Not sure about that...I'm pretty flexible here, other than Heavy Metal and anything like it!

For me that cotton eyed joe song is a definite no! If they start playing it I will freak out!!

We'll have a lot of kids there so I don't mind the goofy dances. We just hate country and rap. And if the DJ plays "Mandy" I'm going to throw a rock at her head, but I don't think anyone else here will have that problem.

I don't think I have an songs that I don't want played. I like a lot of the dance songs and I love country. I guess I just really don't want rap or heavy metal

My fiance insists at least one of his favorite death metal songs must be played. He promised it would be a love song though. xD

I told my FH early on ABSOLUTLY WITHOUT QUESTION, THERE IS NO DEBATING THERE WILL BE NO NO NO NO NO NO NO CHICKEN DANCE. Sorry I hate this song, even outside weddings, I hate it, hate it, hate it.

Addtional songs on our Do Not Play List:

-Macarena
-Achy Breaky whatever
-I'm Too Sexy
-Hokey Pokey (sorry we are not 5 anymore)
-Crazy (patsy cline)
-Rap
-Most heavy metal even though I like it, don't really find it appropriate for wedding reception

I have to also find that song that was a re-make. It was originally done by the father and his daughter re-did it years later after hs death but made it so it sounds like they did it together. I hate it anyway. I think it was in the 90's when she did it.

We have also decided that for the most part we are coming up with a play list for the enite reception, basically this may be mean but my way of avoiding any unwanted songs from being requested.

I have also told my FH that we need to come up with a do not allow the following to try to make any speaches. If so the DJ is going to be told to shut it off. I basically want to avoid the embarrasing and stupid speaches that are completly unneccessary.

The Chicken Dance doesn't include any rolling around on the floor...
Some people add a part on the end of the Electric Slide where they are on their knees though.

More than likely our no's consist of...
Chicken Dance
Macarana
most rap...

We are having mostly country, pop and metal played. That's all we ever listen to, minus the pop. I trust my DJ... I've known him for years..

LOL! On the video...everybody and the bride were on the floor rolling from their stomachs to their backs and I never heard anybody getting on the floor after the Electric Boogie...hmmmm that's weird.

Sounds like they were crazy drunk or something? haha There is NO way that my dress would be rolling on the floor!

You are thinking of "Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole, and later digitally remixed by his daughter, Natalie Cole. I like the originaly Nat King Cole version myself...although the "duet" (not really a duet cause Nat was dead when she did it) would be a nice Father/Daughter dance.

The rolling around on the floor has been done at many receptions I've been to. It's called the aligator. It's normally done to Takin' Care of Business by Bachman - Turner Overdrive. I actually don't mind the song but I will probably ban it from the reception as I don't want people rolling around.

So now we have that rolling around on the floor thing cleared up! haha I've never seen that.

I will be having most of the group dance songs (Electric Slide, Cha Cha Slide even though I don't know how to do it, Chicken Dance, YMCA). I don't want everyone sitting around like a bump on a log. But I will be banning "From This Moment" by Shania Twain (FH's song with an old gf) and "Amazed" by Lonestar (my song w/ one of my old bfs).

I am in total agreeance with you guys. None of those stooopid get up and be silly dances. My dad will do it anyway, with or without the chicken dance. We are going for a mix of jazz styles and some modern country. We are going to go through our list and make sure they don't play anything lame, including achy breaky heart,Elvis, Grease, heavy metal and my fiance has said no Jessica Simpson or Britney Spears too.

We want it to be just the music we like, and that way it will reflect us. (We might have to play Leave your hat on, but that will be AFTER the reception ;) ).
