For those of you who applied for and recieved your passports already( sent away for it), did it take the entire 6 weeks that they said it would take or did you get it sooner???

FH had to get one, it took 5-6 weeks to come in.
I had to get mine back in early 2002... as you can imagine, things took a little longer that year!

We are spending a week in Beijing! It was a trip we won last year!
We'll get to see the Great Wall, the old & new Summer Palaces, the Forbidden City & a bunch of other great stuff!
I'm sooo excited but I'm a little nervous too! I've never flown on a plane before & this flights going to last forever! I have a prescription for sleeping pills & tranquilizers just in case, but I don't think I'll need them. I hope!
I've been in a helicopter before & that was awesome!

Is there a difference between a Canada passport & an American passport?
I have a Canada one,but not an American one,so if there's a difference,I should probably update before I move in May 2007, or sometime BEFORE the wedding so I'm able to go on our honeymoon (not sure where, but we know it will be rather far).

I'm not sure of the rules.
Can anyone fill me in and is there a website I can go to?

Mine took the full 6 weeks too. It's good to know that the expedited service really works! How much extra did that cost (if you don't mind me asking)?

Man!!!!!Ours just came a couple days ago. I called to check on them the day after the 6 week mark and I was told that they were in.... of all places........ New Orleans. And of course, they were really back up. All in all, it took ours 8 weeks to arrive. WORD TO THE WISE: If you need a passport, don't wait til the last minute; apply as soon as possible (unless you want to pay the extra $60+ overnight fees to have it expedited.)

Ours took like a month...right before Christmas too. I guess sometimes you just get lucky!

EbonyNIvory...Where do you live? They are processed out of the office closest to your home.

As most of you know, I am a Canadian and Chad is American.

I have a Canadian passport and I entered the United States on a TN Work Visa. I do not need to get an American passport to go back and forth. However, when Chad's parents who live here come up to Canada this summer and then again in August 2007 for the wedding, they are going to need passports (American ones). Rules changed December 2005 and all Canadian and American citizens need a passport to cross that border. The passports are about $80 and take about 10 business days to get issued. You can pay more to expediate the process. Just start getting your necessary paperwork, passport pictures, etc in order to avoid surprises or delays. Trust me, I had to go through so much just to move down here and be with Chad.

Hope this helps anyone out there!
