What to do about my OB/GYN?

I need advice cus I'm all confused.....

My OB/GYN is downtown Chicago. I've been going to him for 3 years. I love him more than any other doc I've ever had.

The problem is, I no longer work in the city and to drive, it'll take about an hour, on a good day, plus the astronomical parking. If I take the train, it'll cost me $3, plus 45 minutes on the train, each way.

I am due for my annual appt. I refuse to miss an appt. cus I know when I do, something bad will happen.

I'm not sure if I should keep him in case I get a job in the city soon, or find a closer doctor? I've already test-driven a few and didn't like them. H#ll I've seen every doctor in one clinic and didn't like any of them. My PCP said they can do paps there, but that's it.

Any advice???

A good doctor is hard to find, I would probably be willing to still drive the hour, especially since it's not somewhere you have to go all the time.

I would take the train - it sounds faster than driving - and cheaper

Keep your doc. It's once a year... Maybe twice. When you get pregnant you could MAYBE ask him for recommendation for OB's in your area- but I personally would keep him even then. You don't come around awesome doctors often. Plus- he knows your history.

I agree. it is very hard to find a doctor you like. But since you go 1-3 times (at most) per a year I think it's an inconvenience I could live with.

If it was me I would stick with the Dr. I know the drive and/or train is a good distance. However it is usually only once a year so heck doing the drive/train ride once a year isn't that bad.

Heck when DH and I first got together I switched jobs and when I did I had to change regular Dr.'s and I threw a major fit.

I am really picky about Dr.'s. If I find a good one I don't really care how far I have to go. I have had too many issues with bad Dr.'s that I am willing to travel to get to a good one.
