Mysterious bumps/rash?

Yesterday morning I noticed several red bumps on the top of my legs after I got out of the shower. They were pretty itchy. I just though my skin might be extra dry and put on lotion. By last night, the bumps had spread to lower legs, arms, neck, and abdomen. They aren't really concentrated in a small area, they are more spread out. They don't itch terribly all the time, but once I touch them, it's like I have to scratch. The only things that have changed recently:
1) Went off the pill last week.
2) REALLY stressful weekend relating to MIL

Other than that, nothing has changed...no new soaps or anything. I'm thinking maybe my body is having a hormone surge or something trying to start up cycles again? Or I've heard that you can sometimes break out from a lot of stress, but I'm not really having problems on my face. I can't tell if I am spreading it across my body or if it's spreading naturally. It's kinda weird. I'm just drinking lots of OJ to up my vitamin C to help my immune system. May not help, but I don't have health insurance so we can't really afford going to the doctor. I'm just kinda waiting to see what happens I guess.

Has anyone ever dealt with this? Have any theories?

I usually get that badly (1) in the winter, dry skin (2) when I don't shave my legs. And when I get it in the winter, it's usually not just b/c of dry skin, but puting the lotion on my legs sometimes makes it worse. Use an unscented lotion.

Lubriderm is a good one. And avoid lotions that are really oily, like Vaseline. If it has fragrance in it, the perfumes can make the bumps worse and dry them out more and make them itch more.

Thanks, I'll get some tonight. I'm just sitting at work trying not to scratch. I really hope it helps. I needed lotion for my dry skin even before the bumps appeared anyway.

Could it be allergies?

I wondered about that...I've never had allergies before and I haven't changed anything that could cause an allergic reaction. It's confusing.

Even if you have never had them before doesn't mean you don't have them now. I was never allergic to anything when I was a kid. Now I am allergic to dust, my dog (and had dogs my whole life) and some other things. Also my dad was never allergic to anything and got stung by a bee one day and almost died. He had been stung tons of times before over the years and nothing. Now he has to rush to the hospital as soon as it happens or he could die.

Have you changed laundry detergent? Shampoo?

I break out on my body when I get really stressed. It won't even show up on my face.
