Your Employer. . .

Just wondering, what kinds of cool things does your employer do for their employees, that is sort of "out of the ordinary?"

What brought this up?
We had a staff meeting today, and I found out a lot of cool things that the employer that I work for is going to do for us this year. Besides all the ordinary types of things (reimbursement for eye exams, medical benefits, etc.) there are some really cool things that they are putting into effect for us this year. I was quite excited!!!

Starting in April, they are having a "Wellness Program." Which, they will reimburse you for any exercise equipment that you might want to buy, or joining fees to a gym, up to $200.00 per year. Which I thought was quite cool.

There were SOOO many other things that they are doing for us, that I can't even explain all of them here. . .the Wellness Program was just the one that kind of stood out to me.

We're always complaining about what the employers DON'T do for us. . .(I'm guilty of it too. . .especially at my last job. . .they were @-holes. . .I haven't had to complain about the new place yet though!

) So tell us some good things that they do for you!!!

Same here. . .TODAY is my two month mark . . . So I'm sure I will also find out more and more about the company!

Mine is great! I work for a Chiropracter and him and his wife are my boses. I don't have benefits (they just opened up the palce) but I'm not worried since Im covered under my FH's.

But the best thing they do for me, is thank me and appreciate the work I do for them. I didn't get that at my past employer and after 5 years there I became a really negative person since the environment was too! Now that I am here I love it!

Well so far since I have been here (less than a year) found out the following:
-education reimbursement (don't know what the max is though). We have a gym on site so don't have to worry about the membership dues or anything like that. The other thing I like is we have a coffee/hot chocolate machine that is free. I love it during the winter. I drink the hot chocolate, or just make myself a cup of tea (dispenses really really hot water as well).

Our new CEO likes to do lunch every 3 months with the finacial team (I am part of this). They provide pizza and salad for us. There are also mornings like today where people came around and told us there was bagels, muffins & croisants in the kitchen for everyone on the floor. Really nice.

I was talking to a co-worker about the environment around here and how it is so nice and calm. My last job I had to be put on prescription medication for migranes because I was so stressed out that my migranes became severe. I think I have had 2 since I started here.

Oh another thing they are starting is onsite training and classes to help keep everyone up to date and help those of us that may need the additional training and education.

It has to be something that will benefit the firm though, of course. Like my paralegal studies courses.

SURRRRRRE, now that I'm on my last semester, I find somewhere that will pay for my schooling. haha

BUT HEY, at least one semester is being paid for! Which just so happens to be the first semester I have had to pay for anyway (parents used to pay). I felt weird asking for money for classes after already being married! haha

They pay for 1/2 up front. Afterwards, if you receive a B or higher they will pay for the other 1/2 AND books!

I have been with this company for over 2 years. Its a laid back office and so just not having to dress up is enough for me lol.. but my boss told me the other day that whenever I have my baby (not preggy YET.. TTC though) that the baby can come to work with me so I won't have to find a sitter. We are going to set one of the back offices up like a little nursery!!

How nice that would be to not have to pay a sitter!

I can't take my baby to work but they do pay sick days when she is sick and I have to stay home. We also get profit shring which is a nice bonus.

Our office now has a fitness center IN it!! It's ours, no fees and we can use it whenever we want to. That's defintiely a good perk!
