Weird Invites

Ok, from the beginning- FMIL and FFIL divorced about 8 years ago, but are still friends. FFIL's family HATES FMIL and pretend like she doesn't exist, which isn't hard since the rest of his family lives on the east coast and those two live here (cali). so- FFIL's mother died last year and FMIL wanted to go to the funeral- they were kinda close. FFIL's brother said she was not invited.
So now FMIL wants to invite these people that hate her out of spite "to be the better person". She says that they won't come. If they do, I'm afraid there might be problems! I don't know if we should listen to her and invite them or just not to avoid trouble.

I say invite them, esp. since she wants to. I would just ask someone that gets along with both sides to settle any issues. But hopefully they would behave with respect to you and your H2B.
